Characters are Unicode grapheme clusters: a combined emoji or a letter with combining marks counts as one. Whitespace-only clusters are excluded from the second count. Words use English-locale Unicode word boundaries; punctuation and emoji are excluded. Lines include blank and trailing lines, with CRLF counted as one break. Counts may vary with the browser’s Unicode version. Text stays in this page session.
